We educate. We don't sell.

Solar Power Simplified is an independent solar education website built for everyday American homeowners — people who are curious about solar energy but don't know where to start, who to trust, or what questions to even ask.

We're not a solar installer. We're not a panel manufacturer. We don't sell you anything. We're a small team of researchers and writers who believe that making a smart solar decision starts with having access to clear, honest, straightforward information — and that everyone deserves that, not just people with engineering degrees.

Because solar shouldn't feel like a second language

When we first started researching solar for our own homes, we were surprised by how hard it was to find truly helpful, unbiased information. Most websites either drowned us in technical specs we didn't understand, or they were thinly veiled sales pages designed to get us to request a quote from their partners.

We wanted something different — a place where a first-time solar buyer could read a plain-English explanation of how solar panels work, what they actually cost, and whether they'd make sense for a home like theirs. Since we couldn't find that place, we decided to build it.

Guides, comparisons, and reviews — written for beginners

Everything on this site is written with one reader in mind: someone who's just starting to think seriously about solar and wants to understand it without getting lost in the weeds.

Beginner guides

Step-by-step explainers on how solar works, what questions to ask, and what to expect from the whole process.

Honest comparisons

Side-by-side breakdowns of solar panels, inverters, and batteries — written without picking favorites.

Research-backed reviews

Every review is grounded in independent research — manufacturer data, real homeowner feedback, and verified specs.

Solar 101 education

Foundational content that explains the basics clearly — because good decisions start with a good understanding.

Independent research. Plain language. No hidden agendas.

We do our own research — reading technical documentation, reviewing manufacturer data, following industry publications, and listening to the real-world experiences of homeowners who've already gone solar. We don't rely on what companies tell us about their own products.

When we write a guide or a review, we ask ourselves one question: does this actually help someone make a better decision? If it doesn't, it doesn't get published. We'd rather give you a slower, more careful answer than a fast, flashy one that leaves you more confused than before.

You deserve to know how we operate

We think transparency is the foundation of any website worth trusting. Here's exactly how we work:

We are editorially independent. No solar company pays us to write positive reviews or rank their products higher. Our editorial decisions are made entirely by our team, based on our own research.

We may earn from display advertising. Like many free educational websites, we use display ads to keep the lights on. These ads are served by third-party networks and do not influence what we write.

We disclose affiliate relationships. Some articles include affiliate links. If you click and buy, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. We only link to products we'd genuinely recommend.

We update our content regularly. Solar technology, pricing, and incentives change fast. We're committed to keeping our guides current and accurate so you're always working with reliable information.

"Solar is one of the biggest financial decisions a homeowner can make. We think you should walk into that decision fully informed — not just sold to. That's what this website is for."
